Our audit trip to CUP Laboratories Dr. Freitag GmbH in Radeberg

A look behind the scenes! On our latest audit trip, we visited CUP Laboratorien Dr. Freitag GmbH in Radeberg. Every two years we carry out an audit there, to neutrally check the compliance with the necessary GMP standards and document the status in an audit report. CUP Laboratories is a reputable service provider for contract analyses of complex products. These include in particular radiopharmaceuticals, lyophylisates and sterile products.

In addition to auditing, our team, consisting of Susanne Zwicky-Beisele and Dr. Markus Scholz, had the opportunity to exchange views with the staff members who are primarily responsible for quality, including Antje Flechsig, Kristina Zschiedrich, and Dr. Theres Ramenda.

At PharmaKorell, we take pride in making a significant contribution to the quality assurance of pharmaceuticals through advice and auditing of manufacturing companies and quality control laboratories. This way, we support a high-quality supply of medication for patients and the development of innovative therapies for diseases that have not yet been cured.

#QuestionOfTheMonth with Dr. Rudolph Francke

As part of #QuestionOfTheMonth, we asked Dr. Rudolph Francke about the most interesting project he has worked on so far as a Senior Consultant and Qualified Person at PharmaKorell. Here is his answer.

“Working at PharmaKorell in the field of pharmaceutical quality management is multifaceted and therefore always very interesting. The collegial environment, consisting of experts from various disciplines, also has a positive impact. This means that colleagues can be efficiently consulted for difficult problems.

The focus of most client projects are the regulatory guidelines and laws dictated by the legislature. For me, a particular client project, which involved a large proportion of professional consultation in addition to ensuring regulatory compliance, was so far the project that I enjoyed the most. This project involved creating a so-called CEP (Certificate of Suitability of Monographs of the European Pharmacopoeia) for a peptide and submitting it to the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines (EDQM).

The granting of a CEP certifies to the manufacturer that the active substance is sufficiently controlled by the monograph of the Ph. Eur. For the application of a CEP, among other things, the complete validated analytical test methods as well as the complete synthesis path must be submitted.

Assisting the client in compiling the necessary documents for a successful CEP application, ensuring regulatory and technical completeness and accuracy, was a diverse project. The efforts were rewarded when the CEP submission to the EDQM was successfully completed without any objections.”

Our monthly Jour Fixe

Our monthly Jour Fixe has a new home! In April, we removed an interior wall and ordered a custom-made, larger conference table. Now it's here! It's more than just a table - it's a symbol of our growing community and our commitment to teamwork. Whether from Munich or Lörrach, there's now room for everyone. We're looking forward to the lively discussions, creative ideas and constructive feedback that are sure to be exchanged at this table.

Ongoing support to the Stiftung Ambulantes Kinderhospiz München

We now provide ongoing support to the Stiftung Ambulantes Kinderhospiz München as sponsors and encourage our team to identify charitable organisations that could benefit from our backing.

As part of our ongoing efforts to make a positive contribution, we are currently selecting a charitable institution in the Lörrach area. Ideally, this would be an organisation connected to the pharma, medicine, or health sectors.

Suggestions are welcome.

Collaboration with phage pioneer Invitris

As an experienced pharma consulting firm, we are proud to support companies developing innovative and life-changing medicines.

We enjoy collaborating with Invitris, a spin-off from the Technical University of Munich, that is developing a groundbreaking platform for scaling the synthesis of antimicrobial proteins like bacteriophages. These medications are intended as an alternative to antibiotics in the fight against multi-resistant bacteria.

To ensure the necessary GMP standards in production, Invitris has teamed up with PharmaKorell to conduct exploratory audits of potential production sites.

We wish Dr. Patrick Grossmann, Dr. Kilian Vogele, and their team all the best for the next phase of their scaling activities, made possible thanks to the recently approved stage-2 funding from INCATEurope, the European incubator for antibacterial therapies.

The question of the month: How do you describe the working atmosphere at PharmaKorell?

We asked our team member Susanne Zwicky-Beisele to share her impressions of the work atmosphere at PharmaKorell. Here is her response:

"I've been with PharmaKorell for 20 months now, initially as a consultant and then as a senior consultant. After a swift, fair, and transparent application process, I was keen to bring my many years of pharmaceutical experience to the table. From day one, I felt welcome. My workspace was fully prepared, even boasting a bouquet of sunflowers.

I appreciate the open communication with the management and all colleagues, regardless of whether they work in Lörrach (like me), Munich or from home. Unity, appreciation and trust are lived values in our environment. My workday is diverse, exciting, and challenging. In our team, new ideas emerge, which are implemented collectively and propel us forward.

The modern offices allow for focused, peaceful work. But there's also no shortage of shared fun, be it barbecuing, out on our annual company trip, or sitting together at a nice meal at the end of the year."
